Birmingham: India qualified for the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games cricket after beating Barbados by 100 runs in a Group A match at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
Chasing a total of 163, Barbados were restricted to 62 for eight in 20 overs. Earlier, Jemimah Rodrigues hit an unbeaten 56 to help India post a total of 162 for four against Barbados in a women’s cricket Group A match in the ongoing Commonwealth Games at Edgbaston Cricket Ground.
Shafali Verma also hit a counter-attacking 43 after Smriti Madhana was dismissed for cheap. Harmanpreet Kaur was dismissed on a golden duck as India were reduced to 92 for four. Jemimah and Deepti Sharma (34) adding an unbeaten 70 runs for the fifth wicket to take India past the 160-run mark. Earlier, Barbados won the toss and elected to bowl against India.
